Exercises reinforce best practices to use and manage a Microsoft Windows 11 PC, Students are provided with remote access to a virtual Windows 11 lab computer. COMP 1002 focuses on how a Personal Computer (PC) system works. This hands-on course or equivalent knowledge is assumed for all follow-on COMP courses in BCIT Computing Flexible Learning programs. Job opportunities depend on the student’s chosen electives, previous level of education and applicable work experience. The associate certificate program courses are taught at a level that assumes students have completed senior secondary school math, science and English or equivalent.
individuals who require a formalization of their technical abilities in CAD. draftspersons, technicians or individuals who are skilled in a technical field who need to develop their CAD proficiency. The Associate Certificate program is intended for:
To be awarded an Associate Certificate in Computer Aided Design Technology, the student must complete 6.0 credits of required courses and 12.0 credits of elective courses for a total of 18.0 credits. As well, CAD is finding applications in other areas such as facilities management and interior design. Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools are being increasingly used in engineering and architectural fields.
Centre for Applied Research & InnovationĪ selection of part-time studies courses will be offered that will lead to an Associate Certificate in Computer Aided Design Technology. Experience in the design and/or drafting of commercial and residential buildings is helpful. This course covers an overview of Revit concepts including: the user interface, project set-up, designing with digital building components, producing drawing sheets, and detailing and documenting the project. Students learn to use the software as an architectural design tool, then instruct the program to produce floor plans, elevations, schedules, and rendered views automatically on plotted sheets. Each component is linked through a high performance change propagation engine, allowing a single change in any model view to be propagated throughout all views, both parametrically and bi-directionally. As a true parametric 3D digital building modeler, Revit uses intelligent building components such as floors, walls, doors, windows, stairways, etc., rather than simple objects like lines, circles and arcs that represent building components, as in traditional CAD systems. Description: This course introduces you to the revolutionary parametric capabilities of Autodesk® Revit.
